Meet Lavar Marlow

Lavar Marlow is a Brunswick County native, education professional and pastor who is running for the District 1 seat on the Brunswick County Board of Education.
Lavar currently works as an Award Specialist (Academic Affairs) at UNCW. He previously worked as Student Learning and Innovation Specialist Southeastern Community College and as an instructor at Brunswick Community College
Lavar enjoys teaching and preaching the word of God, and currently serves as Pastor of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church of Sunset Beach. Lavar serves on the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) of Brunswick County. He was also elected to The Farm at Brunswick's HOA Board of Directors and to the Campbell University Alumni Board of Directors
Lavar earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Science and History from Campbell University, a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Campbell University Divinity School, an Educational Specialist degree, and a Doctor of Education degree, both from Thayer School of Education-Wingate University.
Lavar lives in Carolina Shores with his wife, Erica Carroll-Marlow.

Lavar’s priorities include:

- Supporting career & technical educational opportunities
- Connecting students with internships and externships to prepare them for the workplace
- Providing well-equipped facilities
- Keeping our schools safe
